Savor These Final Warm Days

What I've Been Noticing Lately...

We’re technically in fall, but let’s be honest—it doesn’t really feel like it yet. The leaves aren’t changing, and the warmth of summer still lingers. Instead of feeling frustrated that fall hasn’t fully arrived, I encourage you to savor these final warm days, just like we enjoy the last bite of a great meal.

Many of us are ready to jump into the cozy vibes of fall, but we can still find joy in the warmth and sunshine of these lingering summer days. Take this time to slow down and appreciate what’s left of the season. After all, the cold weather will be here soon enough, and rushing it won’t make it come any faster.

Quick Tip: Feel the Warmth

Instead of pushing forward, take a moment each day to slow down and enjoy the warmth. Whether it’s a morning walk, an afternoon coffee outside, or simply feeling the sun on your face, savor the feeling of these final warm days before they’re gone. Like the last bite of a meal, appreciation can make the experience even sweeter.

What I’m Currently Obsessed With

I’m obsessed with looking up at the sky—it’s something I always find time for, no matter how busy life gets. This obsession paid off in the most magical way recently. On my birthday back in May, I was sick and missed seeing the aurora borealis when it appeared in Sacramento (of all places!). But just a few days ago, on October 10th, my sky-watching patience was rewarded.

My son and I ventured out into the dark to catch the aurora—and it did not disappoint. It was a moment I’ll never forget, and it reminded me of the beauty that’s always above us, waiting to be noticed.

Closing Thoughts

We often rush toward the next season because we've grown tired of summer’s long persistence and its steady warmth. But these fleeting weeks will soon fade into memories, and before long, we’ll find ourselves longing for the very warmth we’re resisting today. Make the choice to be here now—to appreciate what is, without concern for what you’d prefer. By being fully present in these final days of summer, you’ll carry a sense of gratitude and balance into the coming seasonal shift.
