What I've Been Noticing Lately...
The elections are over, and for many of us, this time feels emotionally charged. Whether you’re feeling waves of relief, worry, frustration, or hopefulness, it’s important to remember that our emotions are powerful messengers. They arise to guide us, to prepare us to protect what matters, to withdraw when necessary, or to stand up for what we believe is right.
This time of year is already emotionally charged as we prepare for the rush of the holiday season. Over the next few months, many will see family and friends, as the vision for the next 4 years is announced. The election has left many families divided and struggling to be kind.
Emotions like fear, frustration, or even hopefulness can come in waves and linger longer than we’d like. The key to navigating these moments isn’t to push your feelings away but to give them your attention and process them. By regulating ourselves and staying present, we can remain loving and respectful without compromising our values and beliefs.
Quick Tip: Ground Yourself in Uncertainty
When emotions feel overwhelming:
- Name what you’re feeling with precision (e.g., anxious, frustrated, hopeful).
- Acknowledge the feeling without judgment—remind yourself it’s okay to feel this way.
- Use your breath to anchor yourself. A deep inhale and a longer exhale can activate your body’s calming system and remind you that you are safe in this present moment.

What I’m Currently Obsessed With
There’s something so satisfying about the sound and feel of those crisp, curled leaves. In my backyard, there’s a beautiful Oregon Ash tree that drops the best leaves for crunching. It’s a small joy that reminds me to connect with the moment.
Inspiration Corner
Emotions rise and fall like the tides. Allow them to flow without resistance, knowing they are temporary. Within each wave lies the power to move us forward.

In times of change, emotions can feel like waves crashing over us. But these waves carry important messages, reminding us of what matters most and preparing us to take action. Whether that action is to protect and withdraw or to stand up and create change, this is a time to listen to your emotions and act in alignment with your values, needs, and desires.
Take care of yourself this month, and trust that you have the strength to navigate these waves with intention and grace.
